Clinical Hypnotherapy and Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a modern therapeutic approach that uses a natural state of deep relaxation and focused attention, allowing access to deeper levels of thoughts, emotions and beliefs.
During hypnosis, you are not asleep and you do not lose control. You remain aware, are able to communicate and can stop the process at any time.
The aim of Hypnotherapy is not simply relaxation. Through the therapeutic process, we can explore deeper beliefs, emotional experiences and automatic patterns that may influence the way we think, feel and respond in the present.
Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) – The Marisa Peer Approach
In my Hypnotherapy practice, I follow the Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) method, in which I have been trained and certified.
RTT® was developed by Marisa Peer and is an integrative approach that draws on techniques and principles from Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused approaches and other therapeutic techniques.
The method goes beyond positive suggestion. It focuses on exploring how and when particular beliefs, emotional responses or recurring patterns may have developed and how they may continue to influence the present.
Through hypnosis and focused attention, clients can explore past experiences from their present-day adult perspective, gain a different understanding of the meaning they may have attached to those experiences, and work towards reframing limiting beliefs and developing more constructive ways of thinking and responding.
About Marisa Peer
Marisa Peer is the creator of Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®), a hypnotherapist, author and trainer with more than 30 years of professional experience.
Drawing on her extensive practice, she developed RTT® as an integrative approach combining different therapeutic techniques with Hypnotherapy, with a particular focus on understanding the origins of limiting beliefs and reframing them.
My training and certification in RTT® were completed within the framework of the Marisa Peer method.
Training & Certifications
I am trained and certified as a Hypnotherapist and Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) Therapist in the Marisa Peer method, as well as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.
My training and continuing professional development in Hypnotherapy are complemented by certifications and professional memberships with international organisations, including IACT (International Association of Counselors and Therapists), IHF (International Hypnosis Federation), IICT (International Institute for Complementary Therapists) and ACCPH (Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists).
Further details of my training and professional certifications can be found in the My Journey section.
What Clinical Hypnotherapy Means in My Practice
The term “Clinical Hypnotherapy” does not mean that sessions take place in a clinic.
It refers to the specialised application of Hypnotherapy within a clearly defined professional and ethical framework, in accordance with my training, certification and scope of practice.
In Clinical Hypnotherapy, I always work in collaboration with the psychiatrist who is treating the client. Any required psychiatric assessment or diagnosis is provided by the client’s treating psychiatrist and remains exclusively within their professional responsibility, while my work remains strictly within the scope of my training, certification and professional expertise.
I do not provide medical or psychiatric diagnoses, nor do I undertake the diagnosis or treatment of psychiatric or psychological disorders. I do not prescribe, recommend, discontinue or alter medication.
Within my practice, Clinical Hypnotherapy focuses on specific symptoms and difficulties that fall within my area of professional expertise, such as anxiety and stress, fears, limiting beliefs, self-confidence, emotional responses and recurring behavioural patterns.
Why Choose Hypnotherapy?
Many of our responses and beliefs operate automatically. We may consciously know what we would like to change and yet continue to repeat the same patterns of thinking, feeling or behaviour.
Hypnotherapy allows us to work at a deeper level with beliefs and patterns that may have developed through previous experiences and may still be influencing the present.
Where appropriate, early experiences, childhood experiences or other significant events can be explored to understand how they may have influenced the way we perceive ourselves, our relationships or particular situations.
The purpose is not to remain focused on the past, but to understand its connection with the present and to reframe beliefs and responses that may no longer serve us.
When Can Hypnotherapy Be Helpful?
Hypnotherapy may be appropriate when:
• anxiety or significant stress is affecting everyday life,
• fears or strong emotional responses are present,
• particular patterns repeatedly appear in life or relationships,
• limiting beliefs are affecting self-confidence or personal development,
• you consciously know what you would like to change but find it difficult to translate that understanding into a different response or behaviour,
• a difficulty persists despite conscious efforts to change,
• you would like to gain a deeper understanding of the origins of particular beliefs or emotional patterns.
The suitability of Hypnotherapy is always considered on an individual basis and within the boundaries of my professional scope of practice.
The Therapeutic Process
Every person is different, and each session is adapted to the individual’s needs, goals and personal pace.
During Hypnotherapy, you are guided into a state of deep relaxation and focused attention. You remain aware and actively involved throughout the process.
Through therapeutic exploration, we can identify beliefs, interpretations and emotional patterns and work towards reframing them from your present-day adult perspective.
The process is carried out with respect for your personal boundaries, with careful consideration of your safety and the goal we have agreed upon together.
Is Hypnotherapy Safe?
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and relaxation. It does not involve losing control, and you cannot be made to do or disclose anything you do not wish to.
Throughout the session, you remain aware and can communicate or stop the process at any time.
Before beginning therapeutic work, we consider whether Hypnotherapy is appropriate for you and for the particular goal you would like to address.
An Integrated Yet Individualised Approach
Hypnotherapy is one of the therapeutic approaches in which I have been trained.
Depending on each person’s individual needs and goals, it may be used as a stand-alone approach or, where appropriate, as part of a broader therapeutic process.
This does not mean that every client needs to work with all of the methods I use. The approach is selected individually, according to the person’s needs and goals and within the appropriate professional framework.
The Goal
The aim of Hypnotherapy is not simply to change a symptom or behaviour.
It is to develop a deeper understanding of what may lie behind it, which beliefs and experiences may still be influencing the present, and to create space for new, more constructive ways of thinking, feeling and responding.
Meaningful therapeutic work lies in the connection between the conscious and subconscious mind — allowing what we understand consciously to gradually become more aligned with how we feel and respond at a deeper level.
Harmony between Conscious & Subconscious Mind
Lasting change becomes more deeply established when new beliefs and healthier patterns are integrated not only into the conscious mind, but also into the subconscious mind.
